About Vijay Prakash 

Vijay Prakash was born on February 21st, 1976. His birthplace was Karnataka’s Mysore. From Sri Jayachamarajendra College of Engineering, he completed his degree. His parents are Lopamudra and Ramashesha. He began his professional career as a competitor in Zee TV’s Sa Re Ga Ma Pa competition. 2004 saw him have his big break in the film “Baaz.” Soon after, he started singing in all languages and rose to fame. He made his screen debut in a Kannada movie in 2008, performing the song “Kavithe” from Gaalipata. The Tamil film industry saw the release of the film Anbe Sivam in 2003, along with the song “Anbe Sivam.” He debuted in Telugu in 2008 with the song “Bagunde.” He made his composing debut in the 2012 Kannada film “Andhar Bahar,” in addition to singing.

Career

In 1996, he relocated to Mumbai and enrolled in Suresh Wadkar‘s class. Vijay Prakash took part in the Zee TV show Sa Re Ga Ma, which was hosted by Sonu Nigam. In 1999, he advanced to the mega-finals. Later on, Zee Kannada compared Sa Re Ga Ma Pa.

His breakout performance was in the Karisma Kapoor-starring Hindi film Baaz (2002). In the Ashutosh Gowariker-directed movie Swades, he also wrote his first song for A. R. Rahman. Later, the same composer wrote the music for the Tamil film New.

His voice has appeared in about twenty-five foreign films; one of them was in China and had music by Surender Sodhi. He has provided the voice for several advertisements, including “Kabhi chatpataa” for Knorr Soups and “Na sar jhuka hain kabhi” for HDFC Life Insurance.

He performed the Rupert Fernandes song “Condom a capella,” which was produced by the BBC World Service Trust, in 2008 as part of an Indian safe-sex campaign. His song “Jai Ho” was the 2008 Academy Award winner for Best Original Song, which he received in 2009.

Confident Star Singer 2 (Kannada), which broadcast on Asianet Suvarna on weekdays from 7-8 pm, featured him as one of the judges.
