Ranjit Bawa: Punjab’s Musical Maestro & Singing Sensation

Ranjit Singh Bajwa, better known by his stage name Ranjit Bawa, is an Indian singer and actor who was born on March 14, 1989. His connections are mostly in Punjab’s music and cinema industries. His career was boosted by his breakthrough single “Jatt Di Akal” from his 2015 album Mitti Da Bawa, which took home the Brit Asia TV Music Award for “Best World Album.” Furthermore, he received the “PTC Best Folk oriented Song Award” in 2013 for the song “Jatt Di Akal.” Of his songs, only “Impress” and “Yaari Chandigarh Waliye” have made it to the UK’s Asian and Punjabi music charts. Ranjit Bawa made his screen debut as the lead in the semi-biographical film Toofan Singh, which is about the 1980s Punjabi activist Shaheed Bhai Jugraj Singh Toofan.

Career

Ranjit Bawa made his singing debut in 2013 with the song “Jatt Di Akal,” for which he was awarded the “PTC Best Folk Oriented Song Award.” His album “Mitti Da Bawa” won “Best World Album” at the 2015 Brit Asia Awards. Some of the popular Punjabi songs he recorded are “Jean,” “Sadi Wari Aun De,” “Sher Marna,” “Yaari Chandigarh Waliye,” “Munda Sadara Da,” “Ja Ve Mundiya,” “Hik Vich Zor,” “Khand da Khidona,” and “Bachpan.”

In the 2017 motion picture “Sarvann,” Ranjit Bawa made his acting debut alongside Simi Chahal and Amrinder Gill. He played a supporting role in the film, and his performance was well-received by critics and audiences alike. Ranjit Bawa was chosen to star in several more films as a result of his performance in the picture, including “Toofan Singh,” “Shindi,” “Vekh Baraatan Challiyan,” “Fateh,” and “Manga Singh Randhawa.”

Born on March 14, 1989, in Gurdaspur, Punjab, Bawa did his graduate studies at Khalsa College in Amritsar after completing his undergraduate studies at Guru Nanak College in Batala. Bawa received a master’s degree in music from Guru Nanak Dev University.
