Rahat Fateh Ali Khan was born in Faisalabad, Punjab, Pakistan, into a family of classical singers and Qawwals. He is the grandson of Fateh Ali Khan, the nephew of the renowned Qawwali singer Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, and the son of Farrukh Fateh Ali Khan.
