Karan Aujla: Sensation’s Musical Journey and Rise to Stardom

Born on January 18, 1997, “Jaskaran Singh” Karan Aujla is an Indian singer, rapper, and songwriter who is mostly known for his work in Punjabi music. He is well-known for a large number of his songs, seven of which have reached the global YouTube music chart and the UK Asian chart, both published by the Official Charts Company. His debut album Bacthafucup was featured in Spotify’s Most Popular Artists in Punjabi Music Industry list and debuted at number 20 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart and 34th on the New Zealand Albums chart. Karan Aujla, a native of Ghurala, Ludhiana, began his career with the lyrics for Jassie Gill‘s song “Range” off his album Replay. After releasing his first single “Property of Punjab” in 2016 as the lead singer, he began appearing in songs as a guest artist. 2020 saw the entry of his songs “Jhanjar,” “Red Eyes,” and “Kya Baat Aa” into the top 10, and “So Far” into the top 5.

Early life

On January 18, 1997, Karan Aujla was born into a family consisting of his mother Rajinder Kaur, and father Balwinder Singh Aujla. When he was nine years old, his parents passed away. After his parents passed away, he was raised by his sisters and uncle. Balwinder Singh Aujla, the father of Karan Aujla, was a cooperative society employee and an amateur writer. After that, he began penning songs. In a marriage ceremony, Karan Aujla, a 9th-grade student, met Jassie Gill and gave him the lyrics of the song “Range,” which Gill sang and went on to become well-known. Karan Aujla immigrated to Canada after obtaining permanent residency. The song was a commercial disaster with only a few thousand views. He began collaborating with Deep Jandu in his Toronto studio while he was in Canada.


Early career: Elly Mangat and Deep Jandu were there when Karan Aujla began his profession. He composed songs for a wide range of performers, such as Sukh-E, Gill, Mangat, Gagan Kokri, Jazzy B, and Bohemia. The crowd responded favorably to Kokri’s performance of his written song “Blessings of Bapu“. After releasing his initial single “Property of Punjab” later in 2016, he began contributing features and rapping in the songs. He debuted songs as a lead artist not too long after. Rise to fame: Rim vs Jhanjhar” was featured on the Punjabi Essentials playlist on Apple Music in 2010. His single “Don’t Look” spent more than twenty-four weeks at the top of the Asian Music Chart. The song was included in the India Apple Music charts for 2019. His tracks “Hair,” “Don’t Worry,” “2 AM,” and “Hint” have also been included on the chart. In India, his song “Hint” was popular on YouTube for more than five days. The song was also ranked on several charts. The song made its debut at number 13 on the Asian music chart. On the YouTube charts, it was ranked number 75 globally, 27 in India, 9 in Canada, 14 in Australia, and 5 in New Zealand. In December of 2019, Karan Aujla also surpassed all other artists in Punjab, India, in terms of YouTube views. On the Global and Indian YouTube charts, his subsequent song “Chitta Kurta” reached at number 35 and 9, respectively. Karan Aujla was included among the most popular Punjabi artists on Spotify in 2019.

From 2020 to the present: The music video for his song “Jhanjar” went viral in January 2020, topping trending charts in Australia, Canada, and India after being seen over five million times in a single day on YouTube. The song made its YouTube music chart debut at number 8 in India and number 26 globally. His subsequent song, “Red Eyes,” also made an appearance on other YouTube charts and peaked at number 8 on UK Asian. Karan Aujla declared the release of the original audio and music video within a few hours following the leak. His four hits, “Red Eyes,” “Sheikh,” “Chitta Kurta,” and “Jhanjar,” all debuted concurrently on the UK Asian chart in May 2020. In 24 hours, his video “Haan Haige Aa” received approximately eleven million views. The song also became his first to appear on any official chart in New Zealand or Billboard history, debuting at number 13 on Recorded Music NZ’s New Zealand Hot Singles and topping the UK Asian, UK Punjabi, and Top Triller Global charts. In India, the song reached its highest position on the Spotify list. After being published on November 10, 2020, by Speed Records, his single “Chithiyan” received 32 million views in just two weeks. The album debuted on Apple Music, iTunes, and Spotify’s Trending section and reached the top of several popular charts. Spotify Global Debut Album charted his debut album at number six.

Personal life

On his right arm, he also received a tattoo of his mother’s face that same year. On the same arm, he also has a tattoo of his father. News outlets reported in June 2019 that on June 8, 2019, an incident occurred in Surrey, Canada, on Karan Aujla. A group from Punjab later claimed responsibility for the incident, however, they eventually recanted. On June 9, 2019, Karan Aujla said that the reports were only rumors circulated by media outlets. In November 2019, Interpol detained Sukhpreet Budda, the criminal who claimed responsibility for the attack, in Armenia. On his left arm, he had tattoos of the liberation warriors Bhagat Singh and Udham Singh in March 2020. On March 2, 2023, he had married Palak.
